My mom and pop visit

My parents came to visit us a few weekends ago. They wanted to see our new place in Sunnyvale, meet Banjo, and (I suspect), make sure we didn't feel left out since they get around the country pretty regularly to see all my siblings and their kids.

They were only able to stay a day and a half, but we sure made the most of it

Saturday we decided to take a trip to Santa Cruz to go to the beach and walk around the boardwalk. Banjo had an AWESOME time frolicing in the sand, we were all in hysterics watching him snort up loads of sand. After that, we stumbled upon a longboard competition which had been temporarily paused due to jellyfish stings to one surfer's face. Ouch. Anyway, four paramedics later, the competition resumed, and we got to see some very acrobatic surfing from a great birds-eye view. We were all surprised at how nimble the surfers were as they ran up and down their boards. Then we went and watched some sealions that had camped out on a dock - my dad was particularly fascinated with all the social manuvering that was going on within the pride (is that what you call a group of sealions?). Next, Dad and I went on a foraging mission into the boardwalk area to find some caramel apples and fried twinkies that were heartily enjoyed by everyone. Last, but not least, we all had a fabulous late lunch at a Greek bistro that had been recommended. Best Greek food any of us have ever had. Mom bought Banjo's love with some choice bits of lamb. Gotta spoil the grand-dog!

Anyway, we loved having them - we have a big Ebel family get together coming up in a couple months in San Diego, so we'll get to see them again soon!

Deep-fried twinkies?! I just can't believe it? What's the cholesterol count on those babies? Love the photos though.
